Are You Living In Your Dream Home

A home represents so many different things to each one of us. For some, a home may simply be an investment. For others, it may represent a sense of security or perhaps even success. For most, "home" is that special place where we raise our families, develop our dreams and nurture our souls. The types of homes that we love can vary from traditional Tudors to Townhomes to contemporary Ranches and everything in between! Some of us want big backyards with gorgeous gardens while others want cozy patios with little or no maintenance. Take a few minutes to think about your perfect "dream home" what do you see? Currently, the average rate for a 30 year fixed mortgage is 6.75%. A year ago the average rate was around 6.0%. Although we still expect the 30 year fixed mortgage rate to average under 7% for the balance of 2006, there is strong speculation that the Federal Reserve Board will continue to raise interest rates sooner rather than later - especially given the current economy).

Based on historical trends, there's compelling reason to believe that we won't likely see rates at this level again in our lifetime. Did you know that a 1% increase in rates decreases your purchasing power by 10%? Wait a few more years and interest rates could easily climb to 10% (or more) which means significantly less purchasing power and significantly less house for the same mortgage money. Waiting could actually cost you the chance to buy your dream home.
